Trish Kanu, an Afro-Canadian actress from Winnipeg, Manitoba, was born to Sierra Leonean parents who migrated to Canada during the Sierra Leone Civil War. Immersed in performing arts from a young age, she engaged in various activities such as theatre, musical productions, piano recitals, talent shows, and cultural and hip-hop dance performances. After initially studying French at University of Manitoba, she moved to Toronto in 2022 to pursue her acting career. Shortly after she enrolled in the prestigious Toronto Film School and graduated with a diploma in Acting for Film, Television, and Theatre. During her time as a student, she actively participated in various student short films and portrayed the character of Tina in a class project for the Canadian TV show 'Intelligence.' Notably, she also performed in the theatre production 'Twin Freaks,' directed by Jonathan Higgins which was inspired by films from the acclaimed Hollywood director David Lynch. In her final term at film school, Trish showcased her versatility by writing, directing, and starring in her own short films, called 'Self-Conflicted' and 'The Words I Never Said’. Upon graduating from Toronto Film School, Trish Kanu signed to HectiQ Agency and has been building her repertoire working on film projects and commercials. She is a very passionate and driven artist whose goal is to inspire others and make meaningful connections through her work.
